Film Screening & discussion - Budrus (Palestinian Film)
Event information:
Detailed description:
Young Palestinians have joined the calls for change sweeping the Arab world with a nonviolent resistance movement that is getting international attention.
Join us for a screening of "Budrus," a film about a Palestinian village that didn't give up when Israel's separation barrier came through its farmlands. The story of how the villagers and their international and Israeli supporters held demonstrations was one of the first, and has inspired other villages and youth movements in Palestine.
Palestinian-American journalist Lubna Sharief will lead a discussion about the film and about her time living and working in the West Bank, including a message from some Ramallah-based activists who are fueling the recent nonviolent resistance movement in Palestine that's blossomed in the wake of the Egyptian and Tunisian revolutions.
