The rest is the usual drill, yada yada....
Open Mic: Poetry and all other forms of artistic self expression welcome (Ongoing)
Summoning poets, storytellers, spoken word artists, musicians, singers, comics, jesters, and--of course--listeners, Open Mic hosted by Caleb Beissert convenes every Wednesday at the Kava Bar on Lexington (just behind the Orange Peel) in downtown Asheville.
Please join us for what promises to be a rousing evening of free artistic enlightenment in an intimate, relaxing, yet curious setting. The microphone will open promptly at nine in the evening and continue until zero hour.
Notes:
PA with available direct inputs will be provided. Please keep performances to a 7-minute MAXIMUM; however, performers may sign up for multiple slots.
Be sure to arrive early and sign up to ensure a spot. Performers, please note your number on the sign-up list and be ready to perform when called upon; this includes having instruments set up and tuned before you are called. Take your own instruments and cables if you wish to perform. Please adhere to the time limit and all other suggestions in order to show respect for other performers.
Performers may receive a free shot of kava.
The open mic crowd is very receptive and welcoming, but please do not perform if you are unrehearsed, out of tune, extremely longwinded, or otherwise do not have your shit together. Thanks! Much love!
Parking near the venue is often difficult to find (esp. during Orange Peel shows). Public or alternative transit is recommended.
Feel free to forward this event invitation to friends.
Never a cover charge.
Last, thank you to artists, audience, and everyone who makes this event a special happening each week.
Keep it going!
